Preventive Dentistry

Dental Hygiene

Proper dental hygiene is essential for healthy teeth and gums. Our team strives to provide you with the best care and education to maintain optimal oral health. We can help create an efficient and convenient personal hygiene plan for your busy schedule to keep your smile (and gums because they're important as well) looking great. Regular dental visits can prevent dental issues as well as diagnosing oral lesions during your oral cancer screening.

Night Guards and Bruxism

Do you experience jaw pain, face pain, or headaches during the day? Has anyone ever told you that you grind your teeth while you sleep? If you have a tendency to clench your teeth or grind them back and forth, either during the day or while you sleep, then we can offer a custom dental night guard that can help relieve discomfort related to bruxism. As a popular preventive dental technique, a bruxism appliance will help preserve the integrity of your teeth by protecting them from the constant pressure and friction of grinding.

Periodontal (Gum) Disease and Arestin

Scaling and root planning (also known as deep cleaning) is one of the indicated procedures to treat gum disease. This treatment removes bacteria , toxins and disease deposits from the surfaces of tooth roots. It is one of the first steps in treating gum and bone disease, otherwise known as periodontal disease. You could be at risk for gum disease if it runs in your family and if you smoke among other factors.
Periodontal disease is quite common but does not always have distinct symptoms.

It is an inflammation and infection of the supporting structure of teeth (gums, bone, ligaments, root surfaces) that eventually results in loss of teeth. If your gums bleed easily, are red or swollen, your teeth appear longer or have shifted, this may be an appropriate treatment for you.

Arestin
Arestin is an antibiotic easily placed in the infected gum tissue around teeth. It is used to help treat periodontal disease and help promote healing and pocket reduction after scaling and root planning (also known as deep cleaning). It is highly effective because of its localized, targeted application directly to the area of concern. It is also non-invasive which makes it well accepted and effective.

Pediatric Cleanings and Exams

For our youngest patients, we always encourage and create a positive experience from the outset. We focus on educating parent and child on good oral hygiene and dietary habits. We recommend exams beginning as soon as the first tooth erupts, and no later than the first birthday. A dental visit at this age is a well baby checkup for the teeth and oral cavity. It is recommended that checkups then occur every six months with typical cleanings usually beginning around age 3 or sooner depending on the child comfort. We love our littlest patients and they love us!
