6 Easy Dental Care Tips For Healthy, Whiter Teeth
Having bad dental health can make anyone feel insecure, and make it nerve racking to say a simple hello and smile. Bad breathe, poor gum health, and non-white teeth all fall under having poor dental health. But having poor dental health is not just limited to affecting your social interactions and self confidence. It can also lead to having a long list of dental and oral diseases. Diseases such as gum diseases, oral cancer, and severe bad breathe.
Don’t worry though, here are 6 easy dental care tips to help.
1. Brush your mouth thoroughly
Be sure to remember to brush your entire mouth. That includes your gums, tongue, roof of your mouth, and of course teeth. Bacteria that cause bad breathe sit on the surface of all these areas of your mouth. For the best gum health and prevention of bad breathe hold the toothbrush at a 45-degree angle. The toothbrush should be on both your gums and tooth at the same time. Brush with a back and forth, up and down movement. Then repeat the same steps for the inside of your teeth and gum. Last, brush your tongue and roof of your mouth.
Also, do your best to remember to brush your teeth twice a day.
2. Floss regularly
Unfortunately, brushing doesn’t do everything you need for healthy gums. You should floss at least once a day to get to that place between your teeth that the toothbrush can’t clean.
3. Ensure that your diet is tooth-friendly
Foods to decrease in your diet are sweets, coffee, and tea. All three of these are damaging to your teeth, unfortunately. Eat chicken, apples, cheese, fruits, and nuts for optimal dental health.
4. Limit the intake of tobacco, alcohol, and soda
It’s not new news how bad tobacco is for you. Smoking can lead to having serious oral diseases like oral cancer. It also gives you bad breathe. Both aren’t desirable if you’re seeking good dental health. Alcohol and soda can be bad in excess because they contain phosphorus. Which in normal amounts is healthy, but too much actually damages your teeth by depleting your body of calcium.
5. Visit the dentist regularly
Even if you follow all the suggestions on this list nothing compares to staying on top of your regular dentist visits. Regular teeth cleanings and full oral check ups with your dentist are key for top dental health. Also, a full oral check up could potentially find a dental issue you didn’t even know you had.
6. Leave a little fluoride on your mouth before you go to bed
Fluoride strengthens the surface of your teeth. So, at night brush your teeth once to get rid of any food residue. Then a second time but leave the tooth paste residue on your teeth over night for strong teeth.
Good oral health can contribute to healthy and white teeth so, schedule your cleaning today, and while you're here, ask about the different options we have for teeth whitening!
As stated in number 5 even following all these suggestions doesn’t replace your regular doctor visits.
