10 Habits That Are Detrimental To Your Teeth

  1. Chewing on ice: biting and munching on frozen cubes can chip or even crack your teeth. 

  2. Playing sports with no mouth guard – this is extremely dangerous in regards to any contact sport you may play. This piece of molded plastic will benefit you from damaging those pearly whites.

  3. Bedtime bottles – giving your baby a bottle of milk, formula, etc. will harm their new teeth as they will be coated in sugars all through the night. Be sure to keep bottles away at night. 

  4. Tongue/lip piercings – they may look stylish, but biting down on metal can crack a tooth.

  5. Grinding teeth – lots of people have issues with this due to stress/anxiety, but this pattern can eventually wear your teeth down.

  6. Cough drops – while this might assist your throat in healing, there's still tons of sugar in them. To prevent damage, make sure you brush after taking the drops.

  7. Soda – our biggest culprit. Soda can contain up to 11 teaspoons of sugar per serving.

  8. Opening anything with your teeth – never use your teeth as apparatus! This will surely cause a chip or crack in your teeth.

  9. Drinking coffee – most of us need caffeine to power through the day, but coffee's dark color and acidity cause yellowing of teeth over time.

  10. Smoking – tobacco products can stain teeth and cause them to fall out as a result of gum disease along with causing cancer of the mouth, lips, and tongue.
