If you have bad breath, or halitosis, it can be really embarrassing and stressful because it is connected to personal attractiveness. So say you’re brushing after every meal, using mouth wash, flossing and still you’re stuck with bad breath!

Here some potential reasons why:

  • Food - Food breaks apart in your mouth as you chew, some of these pieces can get stuck in your teeth and cause bad breath. Also eating foods like curry and onions can cause bad breath. In fact garlic and onions can still be causing bad breath up to 72 hours after eating them.

  • Dry Mouth - When your mouth is dry dead cells build up on your tongue, gums, and the inside of your cheeks. These cells start decomposing and cause bad breath.

  • Various Ailments - Lung infections, metabolic disorders, stomach issues, diabetes, liver, or kidney issues can all cause bad breath.

  • Tobacco - Smoking dries our your mouth and as we learned from above dry mouth can cause bad breath.

  • Diet - Fasting and restrictive diets can also cause bad breath.

Alright now you know why you have bad breath, but how can you cure it?

Here are some solutions to bad breath:

  • Carry a tooth brush with you and remember to brush and floss after every meal.

  • Brush and clean your tongue to get rid of those dead cells and bacteria.

  • Stay hydrated.

  • Keep up your regular visits to the dentist.

  • If you have an upset stomach take an antacid.

  • Eating celery, ginger, apples, carrots, and lemons can all help.

  • Drinking chlorophyll water and spearmint infused drinks.

Knowing the cause of your bad breath is the first step to curing it. But figuring which is your exact cause and proper course of action can be tricky on your own. More importantly, sometime bad breath is a sign of a more serious dental health issue.
